Martyna Citkowicz is a senior researcher at AIR with expertise in quantitative methodology, particularly in the areas of program evaluation and meta-analysis. Dr. Citkowicz currently serves as the Principal Investigator of two residency program evaluations funded by the Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) Grants Program and is leading several meta-analyses in education, including an Institute of Education Sciences (IES)-funded meta-analysis on mathematics intervention effects and a meta-analysis on the effects of teacher professional development. She is also a co-founder of the Methods of Synthesis and Integration Center (MOSAIC), an inter-disciplinary collection of research synthesis projects conducted at AIR.
Dr. Citkowicz has published in leading academic journals such as Behavior Research Methods, Psychological Bulletin, Psychological Methods, and Review of Research in Education. She also serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for numerous clearinghouses, journals, conferences, and grant competitions, including the Campbell Collaboration, Psychological Methods, the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness (SREE), and IES.
Prior to joining AIR, Dr. Citkowicz earned her Ph.D. in Psychological Sciences at the University of California, Merced with an emphasis in Quantitative Psychology and a focus on meta-analysis methodology. Subsequently, she completed an IES Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University where she derived an effect size that accounts for clustering when it occurs in only one group and conducted a meta-analysis for the American Psychological Association (APA) Task force on the impact of violent video games. She also served as an instructor at the annual IES-funded Summer Institute on Randomized Controlled Trials for Established Researchers.
